What AI is good and bad at

What we'll cover

• How it actually works, in one minute
• Where it's genuinely strong
• Where it's weak, and how that shows up
• A quick test for any task
• Exercise: sort your own week
• One thing to try this week

What's happening when you ask it something

• It writes the most plausible next words, based on patterns
• It doesn't know your company unless you tell it
• It only sees what you give it, or what it's connected to
• It sounds just as sure when it's wrong

A quick test for any task

• Is it mostly about words, structure or ideas?
• Can I give it everything it needs to know?
• Can I check the result faster than doing it myself?
• Would a mistake be caught before it matters?

Exercise · 8 minutes

Exercise: sort your own week

• List five tasks you did last week
• Mark each one: good fit, mixed or poor fit
• Circle one good fit you'll try this week

What did you find?

• Which tasks came up as good fits?
• Which ones surprised you?
• Where did you disagree with your partner?

Recap

• Strong at drafting, reshaping and thinking with you
• Weak at facts it wasn't given and things it can't see
• Use the four-question test before you start
• Check numbers, names and dates every time
