Create a checklist from a long process document
Turn a ten-page process document into a one-page checklist people will actually use.
The task
Detailed process documents are good for reference and bad for doing. Ask the assistant to extract a checklist: the actions in order, with the checks that matter, so people can tick through it.
A prompt to start from
Paste it into your AI assistant, then fill in the bits in [square brackets].
From the attached process document, create a one-page checklist for someone doing [process]. Each line starts with a verb. Group lines under short stage headings. Mark the steps where mistakes are most costly with "(check)". Keep the original document's terms for systems and forms. Don't add steps that aren't in the document.
What to check in the output
- Compare the checklist to the document section by section.
- Ask someone who does the process weekly whether anything they always do is missing.
Before you paste anything in
Internal process documents are usually fine in an approved tool.
Your organisation's AI policy wins over anything here.
